Center Console latch Broken

Hey,
I bought a 2006 G35 with 29K miles on it. looks and drives great. One minor irritant in the interiror - the center console: the lid does not close as the latch has broken. My local dealership says it has to replace the entire console for 350 bucks. I am going to but I wanted to find out if there was a way to fix it for cheaper. Super Glue would not work as the broken latch has a part missing. The lid looks great except for the broken latch. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Its definitely a magnet, The button you press on the top just pulls the magnet away from the base allowing you to open it easier.
