Angry 2005 G35x - 80k, ripped seat! Grrrrr

I've had my 2005 G35x for five years and have always taken car of the car (still looks brand new). However, under my right leg (closer to my knee) the leather seat started to look a little worn and now there's a 2 inch rip in the seat.

Really?

Anyone else have this issue? I can't believe a leather seat would rip after only five years (or at all). I guess I'll have to call the dealership but I'm afraid of what this will cost to fix.

There are places out there that do leather seat repair. The place down the street from me fixed a 2 inch tear in my friends car for $55. it doesnt look perfect but you cant tell unless you are looking for it.

not a bad idea

That's not a bad idea...I don't need it to look perfect but I want something better than my idea of duct tape...

Whoaa Really? After only 5years and 80K miles it's starting to tear? How long did you want it to last? 20years and 200Kmiles?

Leather shouldn't tear like this unless you treat your car like garbage. My wife has a 2004 Highlander with the same mileage and the leather is still pristine. I'm thinking it's because of the perforations...those are the weak points in the leather.
