need advise on center console

I'm trying to get a cupholder door latch to work again on my center console. Just bought the car and the previous owner must have drop something sticky down into the console. The button to unlatch the cup holder stop working. I tried spraying some contact cleaner in the latch to try and disolve the crud away but that didn't help at all. Must have disolved what ever spring it has to hold the latch in place. So I'm going to take the console off and try and see what is jacked up. Anyone know where I can find info on the console removal or what is inside that latch

I'm trying to find diagrams that show all the pieces and how to remove them but I haven't found much.

Thanks

I think if you search there is a DIY somewhere on here... But anyways its pretty simple, ive taken mine apart before

Just take off the shift ****, pull up the console and the latch unscrews from the underside. All there is inside the latch is one spring... Hope you get it fixed

I found one chart of the center console but it shows some screws on the side that I just don't see on my coupe. Maybe it for a MT? Does the shifter really need to be removed to get to it, or is that just for the manual Trannies?

Think thats just manual because i dont remember any screws. i took the shifter off and it popped right off. I need to clean mine soon I spilled sweet tea on the button and it sticks pretty bad but my cup holder is usually open because of that

I guess maybe its the console finisher that I need to be removing. Not the center console. I'm still not finding much out there. See some varying info that must be related to AT and MT.

well to get to that you would have to do this first... I belive you have to move the seats up and from the back seat you should be able to see two bolts one on each side

U have the same year as me and auto too I assume...

The console is made up of 4 pieces (the base, 2 top pieces and the stereo)... start by pulling the lil plastic piece under the shifter down, remove the pin and the shifter should slide off. Now all u have to do is pull on the top piece and it will pop off (it will not come completely off unless the shifter is in drive) dont forget o unplug the harnesses. Once its off turn it upside and unscrew the latch from the bottom (should be 2 screws) clean it, reassembled in the opposite order and ur done.

Got it off with no problems. Very easy. Only problem is the cup holder plastic is wasted around the latch. I'll need to find another some where.
