How hard is it to change door inserts (03' sedan)
So I have had the famous issue with the peeling up perforated leather trim on the driver's door panel. I though it was leather and tried to hot glue it. Well that didn't work so well as it was not leather and I over heated it and melted some of the vinyl. Stupid move, I know!
Anyway I figure the next best thing is to recover all of the door inserts with new fabric. I was thinking a quilted vinyl or suede. I have seen this on the boards many times but no one has posted a DIY. I mainly need to know if I need to removed more than just the door handle bar or if I need to completely separate the insert from the door panel. (I looked but there don't seem to be any screws to do this. My best guess is the oem stuff is just glued in place (poorly) and I just need to remove that, cut a piece to fit, glue it up and take a xacto and trim and tuck the edges.
Any thoughts before I under take this? I did this on an older car and it worked good, but that was one big flat panel.
