Question Replacing the 2004 g35 shifter

Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to put a 2005 g35 shifter onto a 2004 g35. How difficult would it be and would I need any extra parts other than the new shifter?

I don't know for sure but when I swapped my shifter for a short throw in my 05, it was pretty easy. You may need a new shift cup (plastic cup) as well. Not sure if you can reuse the old one. Gotta ask though, why would you need to replace the shifter in the first place? Are they not identical pieces and they don't really fail to begin with.

I meant replacing the plastic around it because I think the one on the 2005 g35 looks much better than the one on the 2003-2004
