Unhappy Interior leather insert panel adhesive question

hello! this is actually my first post here, im having a bit of a problem, my leather inserts in the back interior panels were peeling up really bad (im sure alot of you have had the same problem since its pretty common) and i ended up just peeling them off because it looks pretty decent without them,

my problem is that once i peeled them up it looks like the previous owner sprayed adhesive and tried to super glue on certain parts and i have tried everything i could think of (thati thought wouldn't hurt the plastic). i used some goo-gone, rubbing alcohol, soaking it in soap and water for a couple hours, etc and there is still this blotch of what looks like he sprayed the adhesive and it ran because its kind of glossy and then a little bit of super glue up at the top of the panel. also the adhesive wont really come off when i scratch at it with my nail so its on there pretty good

im so tired of looking for ways to get adhesive off since none of them have really worked thus far, this is sort of my last resort so thanks in advance for any of your comments!!

i dont really want to do any sanding to it or anything like that, if anything i might end up just plasti-dipping the areas and see if that looks good.

Try using nail polish remover to see if it takes the adhesive off.

would that ruin the plastic since acetone is usually the main ingredient in nail polish remover?

Using anything stronger that you already have will make it worse including that plasti-dip crud! Nervseele find a auto upholstery shop in your area, spend a few $ and fix it right! You have a nice coupe, keep it that way by using a little common sense...Gary

You could perform a test on the back of the panel. Although, I agree with Gary. The untextured plastic looks crappy. You could use this as an opportunity to add a little color to your interior. Suggest you take it to an upholstery shop.

Go to an upholstery shop and fit it correctly. Platidip is never the answer.

I am sure a professional upholstery shop could get the adhesive off when they repair it.

Depending what kind of adhesive is used, it could have slightly eaten into or etched the surface of the plastic, thus sanding would be the only way to remove the scar.

I agree ⬆ careful sanding could remove the adhesive, sanding in stages course grit to fine grit. That's a diy'er if your patient and pay attention. I'm dealing with a sagging/falling panel as we speak. However bad i think it looks, I've done hours of research, found a highly recommended adhesive and I'm not going to attempt the repair till i have all the time it deserves. Luckily the previous owner didn't make any repair attempts! Whatever way you choose to do your repair, post some finished pics. Good luck!
