Is it possible to put an 07 g37 steering wheel in a 2006? They look a little nicer

Is the wiring plug and play or would there need to be some modification? Thanks

This has been covered before. No it is not plug and play, but the later model G35's (aka like the 07 and 08 sedans) have the same steering wheel as the 37, but they plug into the stock G35 harness or something.

it doesn't appear that anyone has all the buttons 100% sorted out. the radio controls seem to be different.

i tried to pinout the wires with a multi meter but cant make sense of it.

i just got this...

the g37 wheel I have does not have the phone buttons. Would you suggest pinning it like the G35 wheel? Or another wiring method?

it does. just gotta find the tech package buttons. u can actually just buy the buttons and swap it out. but repinning it did not work for me. i know someone else said they repinned it and it worked for them but all the buttons had to be remapped and cut traces and new wire was soldered and ran for the new connections. i dont know if the person who repinned it had an 03 or the newer 06. i know for mine repinning does not fix the map of the buttons

I don't understand why I need the tech package buttons. My car has a tape deck, not Bluetooth.

because tech package wheels will have the phone buttons

or are you saying that the phone buttons are unnecessary. wasnt sure from your response if you were saying u have hands free and dont have the buttons on the g37 wheel or if u dont need them. regardless of whether or not you need the phone buttons the pins will be to be repinned but you will have to actually open it up and trace the circuits compared to your own to see if the buttons will work

i do not need the phone buttons, they wont control anything in my 2003.

for now i matched the pinout of the 03, the car is open header on jack stands and ripped apart so it will be hard to test the cruse, i should be able to get it powered on and test the radio controls.

ok so i finally got the t30 security bit and removed the oem g35 wheel. had an epic fail when i pulled it off, the airbag wires were still hooked to the steering wheel and took the clock spring with it. i carefully coiled it back up without twisting it and fingers crossed it will still work.

the g35 / 37 wheels have the same plugs, and my g37 wheel does not have the phone buttons (tech package) so the button count is the same on both wheels.

i am guessing these things are canbus? or it just exceeds my electronic knowledge of how these work.
the cruse control is 2 wires for 4 buttons, black and red. same on g35 and G37 and it makes sense as to why everyone seems to get cruse working.

the radio side is 3 wires and 6 buttons, brown white and blue. it looks to me like the trace on the brown wire is the common with all the buttons but i could be wrong. my plan is to test the radio control and if the buttons are off i will swap the blue and white wires and test again.

the G37 wheel also has a yellow and pink wire. i am guessing these are for the led backlighting, my 03 does not have this, if it works in the open slots, bonus if not no big deal.

they are not can bus. its the most simple method. just a common ground and each button activates a different size resistor. since it seems like you know what you are doing just take a multimeter, put it in continuity and test the ohm resistance of the buttons on your stock wheel, then test it on the g37 wheel. just gotta match the resistor to the button if that makes sense

if you are good with soldering u could actually desolder the resistors and rematch them up to the correct spots.
