I bought mine with the rip on the driver seat corner already. The front passenger is starting to rip.

Frankly, its probably easier to pay an upholstery shop fix the issue. Unless you are really inclined to do the DIY.

 

Yeah that's probably the sensible thing to do. But life is full of non-sense. The thing that I would have to figure out is the TSB indication that the left side seat cushion trim has to be replaced. Correct part number requires the VIN and the electronic parts catalog (FAST or equivalent). I don't have any access to that level of variable part number detail research. I'd also have to source two probably obscure clips for the seat cushion outer finisher.

Might have to let the dealer do it at a premium.

 

I have the rip as well for a few years and its been getting worse. I tried looking to replace it with OEM parts (foam/seat cover) but the price is absolutely outrageous. Foam cushion itself is over 575, and just for leather trim lower seat is 1,900. I tried Katzkin, but of course they dont make anything for our cars. Seems like only way to go is through a random upholstery shop and they want anywhere from 500 to 700 per seat and do not guarantee that the leather will match up to the oem color. frustrating

 

Thought I should report in on this. I finally just let the dealer deal with it. The seat bottom is no longer available, but since it wasn't yet torn, I was OK with that and not having to buy a new one They performed the filing modification and put it all back together. We shall see how it does over time. Still kind of shocked that no one apparently ever DIY'd this....

Labor @ $135, plus two pins (01553-01034) @ $23.14 each, total $181.28.

Interestingly, a parts lookup at infinitipartsdeal.com says the pins at that part number (for $8.90) do not fit my vehicle, provides a lookup code of 87300EF that leads me to 87300E (part #87648-AC70A) that looks like a clip, requires two @$2.01. Whatever. Like I said above, at a premium.

 

Upholstery shops in my neighborhood are major flakes, I won't even go into detail but I couldn't do business with any of them...they're that bad! www.leatherseats.com wants K$ for just the leather for both front seats, then I need to find a reliable individual to do the install. May have to rely on Nissan's mobil unit to get my drivers seat repaired, dislike leaving SLICK anywhere is part of my OCD!

I redid my seats and wrapped my dash in vinyl leather. Also if any of you guys are looking, I found this website called yourautotrim.com and they sell all types of vinyls and leather. They have headliner too and a bunch of other stuff, yall should look at it, its helped me a lot.

 

If you dont mind me asking how much was it to redo the seat? Also did you have to change the foam inside?
If you dont want to post it here, please PM me. trying to figure out how much i it should be.

Also, would it be wise to order replacement parts from infiniti or do they not make them anymore?

 

Just updating the thread to report that nine+ months later, things are holding steady. No change in the micro tears, and everything is looking good. Car is a daily driver, so it's seeing some use over the timeframe.

 

Found the solution to my torn/worn drivers seat, talked to the service manager at my dealership and he recommended this small company. First visit didn't go well, it was 10:00 and he wasn't go to be at his shop till around noon. Went back a few weeks later and he was working on a project but he gave me a quote along with a ride home while they worked on SLICK. Three hours later he called and she was ready, they replaced all the leather on the left side of my drivers seat and fixed the lower piece that causes the damage in all our coupes. This isn't a DIY project, what are going to do tape leather over the hole...tried that!

Aaaaaaand yet another end-of-year update. No advancement of the micro tear in the seat cover bit that slips over the plastic side frame of the seat next to the door. Daily driver car with a daily 200 lb. driver.

I'd say the TSB fix is the ticket on this issue.
