06 coupe dashboard

Has anyone's dashboard gone bad......Mine is garage kept, 40k miles and the dash has discolored (cloudy) and is gummy/sticky to the touch. Cleaner returns it to normal, but then 2-3 weeks later it comes back

Anyone got links on what the hell this is, how to fix it, new one for sales or any info at all??

Install some clear window tint for the UV protection on the next car you buy, as your dash is faded by the sun. Sorry man.

Typically a "gummy" feeling is the surface vinyl or plastic of the dash has been chemically eroded by some product you were cleaning it with. I would discontinue whatever product you have been using and switch to a better brand, I like to use 303 Aerospace Protectant on the dash after a good cleaning with some McKee's 37 interior cleaner and protectant.

Thanks for the replies. Yea it def has nothing to do with UV rays as it is 100% garaged and only has 40k miles.

I left it it at my exotic painted correction/detailed specialist for a while and he definitely applied something that he will not own up to. To say the least I will never use him again or send Business to him.

Sounds like Ike I am going to have to locate a new dashboard. All of the products I use are safe....was hoping some way I could correct this without replacing. This is gonna be expensive

It's possible that it's just residue from whatever product he used and can be scrubbed off, try using a soft brush and mild soapy solution. Perhaps it was just a chemical reaction between a previous product and the most recently applied product and the dash may be fine. I wouldn't use any other chemicals besides mild soap though.

Okay guy, you got it. No chance, although lots of people have this problem.

Replace it with an eBay one.

Had the same problem. From my experience it looks like the upper layer of the is made of some kind of vinyl or plastic. Degrades with time and sun/U.V. exposure. Was working on removing the radio to do some work under the dash but the dash itself got damaged. It was a hot day and the top layer of the dash just peeled off while trying to remove the aluminum strip. The one that goes from the passenger side door to the gauge pod. Along with the cracks that were already forming I decided to flock it. Photos are on my Instagram Yam.tastic. If you're curious to see the damage, fixing it and adding the flock there are a few there. Was cheaper then buying a new dash or paying someone to fix it. Was thinking about flocking it for a while and this was ultimately the deciding factor. Hope this helps

It only gets worse. My dash was cracking and melting. I couldn't stand it for years because everything else was in near perfect condition. I believe it was abuse from florida sun in my case, or the previous owner. Keep an eye out for spare dashes or part outs amd wrap it in in 4 way stretch vinyl using contact cement. Not a difficult job, just tests your patience. It's an all day job to swap dashes. In the end it was under a $200 project

Damn, sad to see this happening to everyone. Yea this detailer definitely applied something, it went in perfect came back weird. Will see if the soap trick works, will take a few weeks to determine, seeing if it returns or stays clean.......
