Re: Removing Shift **** and trim around it??
Is the G35 coupe's shifter the same as the 350Z's? If it is, this will help:http://www.rallitec.com/Q-shifter/

The ESM says to twist counterclockwise. It will come off.

For the avoidance of any confusion, those instructions are only for the MT. For the AT, you need to pull the ring at the bottom down and then remove the exposed clip.
No idea how to do the trim on the MT. If anyone wants to remove the AT's plate, be advised that you'll need to unscrew stuff from underneath it.

Re: Removing Shift **** and trim around it??
Remove shift **** first, turn counterclockwise. Stick your fingers through the leather on the bottom part of the shift boot. Pull up, it's held in with clips. Don't pull too hard because the hazard light harness is still attached to that piece. Good, luck, only thing to watch out for is the shifter without the **** on. It might scratch the lower console piece if you're not carefull.

I don't know if you still need help, but all you do is pull up on the rear of the trim inside the leather boot and the rear will pop up. Then you pull off completely, but like someone else said, just make sure to unplug the hazard and ash tray wires.
