Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
I went to but the pedals and the parts manager stated that I would need a new gas pedal assembly because of the throttle stop. Has anyone encountered this? I am new to upgrading my car and this did not sound right based on the postings I have seen.

Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
I noticed the same thing. The stock gas pedal has a piece of plastic about ~2 inches long that keeps the pedal from depressing against the carpet itself. I didn't do anything about it and it doesn't seem to have affected anything. In fact, I can get my G to get up to the redline much easier now. Before, I couldn't get it to shift at redline even with the pedal to the metal cause most of my driving is on the highway. But now, with the extra travel, it seems much easier to do.
Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
If the "throttle stop" is that square brace on the bottom of the pedal, I'm not sure what he's talking about. That piece is welded on to the rod itself, and not attached to pedal, which just clips around the rod. It does look like it's part of the pedal though, so he may just be confused. In any event, the gas pedal and dead pedal are very easy to install yourself (just make sure you pry off the gas pedal's clip from the outside, because the inside doesn't come off). It's the brake pedal that can make you wish you'd just paid someone else to do it. I look back on it now as a rite of passage. Like having your fingertips circumcized.

he is correct, the parts manager is full of crap! I've had mine on for 4 months now and trust me, I got no problem hitting the stop!

Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
I just installed the aluminum pedals and I couldn't have said it better than JDman. The gas and the clutch were no problem but the break pedal was a mother. I was doing the install with a Leatherman and almost took out my finger. I did the install with blood, sweat and tears, literaly!!!
PS has anybody cut the throttle stop?!?!??

Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
I also replaced the stock pedals on the sedan. My 2003.5 sedan does NOT have the throttle stop welded to the pedal assembly. On the 350Z and coupe(?), it is welded to the metal arm assembly so it makes sense that a stop would not be needed with the replacement Nissan aluminum kit that we also buy for the 5AT sedan. Hopefully, this is not going to be a mechanical problem later if the pedal is repeatedly pushed past its design limit. The throttle stop on the sedan is part of the one-piece plastic pedal.
Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
I found it easier to use those tools that cyclists use to remove and reinstall their tires. It has a little curved section that fits right under the lip of the new pedals. Made it soooo much easier to slip them on. It's also not too sharp so you don' t jab yourself

Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
I just bought pedals tonight for my Cpoue. The brake and clutch pedal went on pretty easy after I put some lotion on them. I'm sure you can use some other lube that will dry after a day or so. It got dark before I had a chance to put the gas pedal on. I've also heard that its a %^**& to put on. Are there any quick solutions out there?

Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
Gas pedal is cake bro! just follow the instructions. There are more steps to it but that was the quickest install out of all three when I did it.

Re: Aluminum Pedals and the Throttle Stop???
It would be great if it came with instructions. I bought the pedals from the dealership. I may go down there today. I remember earlier G-35 articles featured the pedals. Also does anyone else have a problem with there dead pedal be loose? The one on my wife's sedan is fine.
