Installing Pedals
Installing Pedals
I bought the Nissan/Infiniti aluminum pedals for my 6MT coupe. I was able to get the gas pedal and dead pedal on, but I could not get the clutch and brake covers on. After a while I gave up on putting the sluminum covers on and with a fair ammount of difficulty was able to get the stock rubber pads back on. Has anyone else run into a similair problem or have any advice on how to get the rubber on the aluminum pads to fit around the brake, clutch arms. I tried using a screw driver to work around the back of the pedals (as the directions said to do) but this did not help. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Installing Pedals
Dubb,
Try leaving the back of the pedals to sit in the sun a bit getting them a bit warm.. Also a little trick is try some a little bit of WD40 on the inside the pedals it makes sliding them in easier.
Hope that helps you out some

Re: Installing Pedals
or you can use my stretch method, take a pair of plyers and stretch the corners on the reverse underside of the pedal so that the rubber is not so tight anymore
i tried putting mine in hot water, the problem with that was they cooled down way too quickly and so the rubber went back to being too tight. Unless you have a heat gun... try the stretch method worked for me

dubb: Try to put 1 corner of the pedal on at a time. you need a short thin, flathead screwdriver. Put the pedals in some hot water first... Then, put the 2 corners on that are most blocked by the arm, and hardest to reach with a screwdriver.
Use the screwdriver to pry out the edge and 3rd corner, then keep working it on for the last one. I used a prying technique to pop the pedal corner out and over.

Re: Installing Pedals
Damn!! Never thought about warming them up first. I just installed them right out of the box. I took some persuasion but I managed to negotiate my way thru the install. The hardest one was the break the other two were cake. Just use a flat head screwdriver and pry out the edges like redwillow says.

Trust me on this, use WD-40 or some lubricant. Warming it in a hot water will help but way less effective than just a few spray of WD-40 !! Once it gets slippery, you just need to wiggle it with minimum force.
