thanks for the props guys

just to answer a few question... they're all LEDs.. no CCFLs in there.

as for the ring, I superglued 11 5mm LEDs almost all around the circle..then wired it all up. I didn't fill the whole circle because I wanted it to be a little more aggressive as you see on the first pictures. the clearance strip I used 4 LEDs... I'll post pics of the process later today or tomorrow.

As for the heat issue. the projector housing or the light that protrudes out from the housing isn't shining or touching the LEDs at all. So I think it should be fine. i hope... hehe

thanks again for all the comments. It keeps me want to mod more stuff..

Looks awesome, Id love to see how you've decided to do with the strip,I can see it was a different approach, maybe Ill get to learn something new. awesome job!

thats sick man, i wanted to buy the 06 headlamps but the loss of the clearance strip turned me off the idea, did you take pics of your process for a DIY? that would be awesome.

awesome! you sure love leds, don't cha? Hey i was wondering what kind of LEDs you used in the instrument cluster are. More specifically, what are they called? I tried looking on ebay for LEDs and "flat" LEDs, but couldn't find anything like the ones you used. Any recommendations on where to get them?

love 'em! i used inverted 5mm LEDs for the clusters.. it would be best if you use something to difuse the light along with the LEDS so it'll be even.

btw here are more pictures.. daytime.. and 56k die!

not much of a DIY to this project really. It did take a long time because I kept on messing up. basically super glue, 5mm LEDs, resistors, wiring, 1 yard long pastic clear rod from a plastic store, silicone, silver paint, masking tape, a lot of hours of your time and lots of careful dremeling. don't copy me ya hear? haha be creative

That's awesome!
I hated the fact that the 06 headlights lost the clearance strip...but you went above and beyond...I like the subtle led rings around the projector.
Great job
