How to Paint over lights?

hey what do you guys use to make paint stick on the lights? i'm trying to paint part of the lights pure black

PM caskyline... he's got his tails painted... but i think he had a bodyshop do them

Wow you got another G?! Weren't you the guy who totalled his G in the rain because you didnt know how to drive?

haha. a burn indeed. :P Hey Eric! You finished the corners yet? I'm curious to see how those turned out.

Just throwing ideas out here (i'm not a paint expert or anything), but maybe primer the lights and then paint over it.

but i need to "sticker" infiniti lol.. like i did to the old ones.. if its too thick then its kinda hard to do. i need a thinest possible layer of paint that'll black out the light from comming through.. after i do "INFINITI" then i can clearcoat it however many times

If you are only painting part of the light.tape off the area you don't want painted and lightly sand down the area you want painted.Then clean it off well,rubbing alcahol works well.You could also clear over the entire lens after it is painted and tape removed.

Just an idea, but you could try the new Krylon paints that are meant for plastics, they are supposed to "bond" with the plactic for a stronger hold.

have u tried looking for those spray paint that hobby stores carry. i think they have some that can be painted on plastic.

yeah but i'll need like 4 cans of that stuff.. its not dark enough where it'll block off the light

if you want no light to go through, why not jus disconnect the bulb?

look closely at the pix.. "INFINITI" is left unpainted on those lights.. i want only the letters INFINITI to light up..



theres the custom corner as of now

i see, nice project. u can try vinyl or maybe use black electrical tape (the bigger ones) then paint it over. might work
