LED turn signals

Anybody try to swap these for the incandescent turn signals in their '06 coupe? Surprised that I couldn't find anything in a search.

I have them. Tested them out and they look very bright crisp white. I haven't put them in yet because I guess you have to take off the bumper to get to the light. that sucks.

Take the bumper off for a turn signal bulb? Holy cr@p.

This site has some info about using LEDs vice regular bulbs and the issues they may cause with the car's "bulb burned out" warning due to low current draw. Was curious if anyone had issues. Also talks about getting LEDs the same color as the lens for max brightness.

u dont need to take the front bumper off. you need to take the wheel well off. you can reach behind the light and twist off the turn signal to replace it.

I replaced my front turn signals with some PIAA's that have a silver outside and light up amber. Takes the yellow out of the lights when the signals are off. Cleans it up a bit

Ive done LED replacements both, front and back. they are great. there is two things that are different.. 1) in the front, your blinkers will no longer light up unless being used. I.E. no more running light. it will only light when blinking. (personally, this was one of the things that i was going for. IMO it cleans up the front end.)
2) the speed of your blinkers will increase. it may seem a little fast at first, but you get used to it. When hazards are on, they blink at the factory set speed. the bright crisp light is more than worth it.

BTW, i did NOT use the LEDs in the listed Ebay ad.

just to confirm it is correct that the fender protector is all that is needed to replace the lights. I had someone else post that the bumper needed to be taken off so that scared me away from doing it. Well I got the service manual and just the fender protector both back and front need to be taken off. Unscrew the plastic housing and undue the mounting bracket.

sorry for any confusion. I'm doing mine tonight.

You just need to pull back that black plastic fender material to access the rear of the light.

Theres also a thread going about how to stabalize the speed of the blinkers. Becasue the draw for LED's is SO low, the flasher thinks one of the bulbs is not working, and starts doing its seizure flash, which is annoying and makes cops think you have a blinker out...

The superbrightleds web site has a load resistor kit (you'll need one per bulb) to trick the system into thinking the LED is a higher draw incandescent bulb. This should stop the fast-flash or any bulb-out warnings.

I live south of Oceana, just NE of the courthouse, but work at Little Creek now. There's quite a difference in commuting time - Oceana vs. Little Creek.
