fog out but high beam works?

hi guys. i did a search but did not see anything on this. i recently installed some piaa fog bulbs. the other day i noticed that the fog light was out on the driver side. great, $60 down the tubes after a few weeks! but then i noticed that the high beam works. its the same bulb, correct?? i checked all the fuses and everything looks good. any ideas?

Same bulb but two different filaments inside it. Sorry to hear about your negative experience with PIAAs. I have them and love them.

Wouldn't the fog/high beam bulb be on the same fuse since it's the same bulb?

No. because they are powered by different wires. What you see in a H4 bulb is actually 2 bulbs together (dual filament) and powered by 2 positives and 1 negative wire. So it has 2 fuses. High beam takes 60 watts while foglight only 55 watts.

kdiggz, ^^These bulbs have a purple hue^^

If you are looking to match the HID color they are not your best choice.

OK, well then I agree he should check his fuses before he replaces the bulbs.

thanks for the responses guys. i checked all fuses and they all look good. so it is possible for the bulb filament to be out for the fog but ok for the high? didnt know it was like that. looks like i will be needing new piaa's. i have the piaa xtreme white fyi. they dont match the stock hid's very well. not blue enough i think. maybe ill look around and try a different brand this time. sucks that i JUST bought fog bulbs and now im buying some again!

in other news...bringing the car in for service on tues for an unrelated matter (both windows dont work!)

Did you check the right fuse box, none working window could be the accessory fuse out in the engine compartment. If you only checked the interior fuse box then you didn't check the right fuse box
