How do HID kits like these work?

They use H4/H1/H7 instead of the D2r D2s that we use?
Are the two cubes the ballasts?

I do have to crack open my headlights if I get these , but does it require intense modifications? Like retrofitting?

The use D2R bulbs, with a modified base to fit H4/H1/H7, etc bases.

The boxes are the ballasts and igniters. You do NOT have to crack open your headlight to install these. They just replace your bulbs, and all you need to do is find a place to mount the ballasts. Most plug and play kits require no modification.

just put the link on, I forgot to put it in the first post @@;

Lets say I get this kit
http://www.bellof.co.jp/products/spe...ution-neo.html
What else do I need to go with it?

So I can only use rebased D2R/D2S bulbs instead of regular H4/H7/H1s?

Or can I just get the ballast & igniter and use my D2R ultinons( I hope I don't blow them up).

No you can't use your existing bulbs. Im assuming you want to switch out your foglights (H4) from halogen to HID, correct? If this is the case, you need to get an H4 HID kit. Note you will lose your high beams with most H4 HID kits.

The Bellof kit is a very nice and high quality HID manufacturer. But since the site is in Japanese, I cannot tell you all it comes with. Furthermore Bellof HID costs a fortune!!

There's no possible way to increase the brightness of your low beams. The only way to do so is to mod your ballasts, but trust me, that is WAYYYY out of your reach for you to DIY. It is insanely complicated, so dont even attempt nor ask how to do it. The only possible way to increase the brightness of your low beams, is to do a projector retrofit or buy yourself some 2006 Bi-Xenon headlights.

makes sense. Oh well. What good are the HID kits for then?
Just curious why the TS GTR has bellof HID kits when they don't do anything to increase brightness.

Change color of the lighting, or auxilary lighting. Such as changing the fog lights to HID, now you have 2 sets of HID on the road instead of one.

Thats honestly the best option I think you have. There is no way to tamper with the stock HID to make the low beam brighter. However you can add an additional HID system where the fog lights are so you have more light on the road.
