Sedan tail light mod

OK ... so the coupes were thinking about a tail light mod.... so how about the sedans...ala '68 tbird where the turn signals lit up in sequence chasing to the outside....kinda like a road crew or police cars's warning/hazards telling you to move over a lane.

Think we could get those LEDs to fire in a staggered sequence? That would really get people backing of fyou rear end

Hey I am all ears. I always wanted to do something with these taillights. Let me know if you come up with a place and how much it would cost.

Re: Sedan tail light mod

Does anyody have the wiring schematics for the taillight assemblies? I have some old schoolers that are now wanting to take a look at a solution for me (us)?

Re: Sedan tail light mod

Does anybody know of an avail '03 taillight assy? Or, how much they cost from Infiniti (part #?)

I have a guy that is willing to figure this out, but obviously needs a test unit for cutting the traces and isolating the LED banks.

If he figures it out, there will be a group buy on the solution with "core" trade-ins so that you do not have to source your own taillights, or run without them (like those guys with the LED headlight expect you to!)

This is a cool mod that will def turn some heads when you change lanes or make turns. I was also thinking of asking him if it is possible to toggle on/off sequentials while braking.

Once figured out, anything is possible!

Cheers, ted

Re: Sedan tail light mod

So you are suggesting that the existing turn signal lamps be disabled and let the LEDs be sequenced when turning. Would the idea be that they would do the same thing whether you had the brake applied or not?

With the separate turn signal and brake lamps right now, this is not an issue, so there is nothing special about the wiring to the brake light.

Re: Sedan tail light mod

I put this into the coupe forum, but it belongs here.

Has anyone replaced the front and rear turn signals with LED's? A poster replied that a resister was required to slow down the blink rate. There are replacement 7440 and 7443 LED 'bulbs' advertised. I am concerned that they may not be bright enough and do they have sufficient spread to be seen from a wide enough angle? Do they fit through the existing opening?

The instant on-off matching the action of the sedan tail lights is the attraction here.

Am I missing something here? Whatever happened to this post? Are you no longer working on it SoCalTed?

Thanks for a reply.

Re: Sedan tail light mod

Sorry guys....holidays have me running to and fro! I have not given up on this...just can't do 6 things at once (don't wanna spit out my chewing gum and I was never one to stop talking!)

All I need is a test rear light assy (which I probably let get away on ebay..but plan to follow up on ...sorry James!)

I have the guy that will do the work to get it figured out..and he specializes in this stuff. I'll keep you informed as I get back on track. \\Cheers. Ted

(merry chistmas all, and to all a good launch!)

Re: Sedan tail light mod

Here's your chance to buy a perfect condition tail lamp for a reasonable price! Just check out what the dealers are charging!

Who is going to get this mod started? I am sure there will be a lot of interested G35 owners out there wanting to purchase this upgrade if someone provides a finished product. I think it would look really good.
