Unhappy What's wrong with my AUTO lights???

I just got my windows tinted today, and they took off the screw that keeps the windows from sliding up and down when the door opens and closes. I can't put the screws back on for another few days cause the windows can't open. So when I got home, I have my headlights on AUTO so that it turns on and off by itself... it never turned off . Does anyone know if the screw has anything to do with the AUTO headlamps?

The headlights will go off in 5 minutes. The dealer can set the auto-off feature to turn of at 3 or 4 minutes as well.

Did they tint the front window? If they did it could be interfering with the light sensor that determines if it's day or night and whether to turn your lights on and off in auto mode.

They normally go off in 45 seconds. But this time, I went in the house, and someone came in and told me it's still on and that was about 15 minutes later.

Yeah I got all 5 windows done, but they turned on automatically when it got dark. It just never turned off.

That's probably it then...
your light sensor on the front dash is getting fooled by the tint...

I am talking about a 5 minute auto off, when the lights are left in the ON position, not the AUTO setting.

But what I don't get is if its the sensor, then how come they will turn on automatically. But still won't turn off. Cause isn't if you turn off the car and lock it, and if theres no motion or whatever, it'll turn off

I should have clarified. Was it a possibility your lights were on the ON setting not the auto? This is what happens when they are left on the ON position.

No it wasn't on the ON setting, I would have noticed because doesn't it ring when you leave the lights ON when the door is open

not sure about that then...could still be the sensor that's malfunctioning...could be something else...take it to the dealer see what they say.

Interesting, I think 'm going to have the dealer set them at 45 seconds.

More than likely, the screw removed is fooling your car to think the door is open. From page 2-22 of the 2005 manual, it states that auto lights will stay on for 5 minutes if a door remains open. If all doors are closed, it'll shut off at 45 seconds.
