Re: Coupe Headlamp/Sidemarker conversion

If I had a black one I'd go for that...I think that's sweet !!!! That was the deciding factor why I chose the BS instead of the DG...I wanted the headlight housings to match the car...

Re: Coupe Headlamp/Sidemarker conversion

its a long (about 4-6 hours, maybe), but not too complicated process. Remove buckets from car, strip out the lights. Heat in oven for 9 minutes at 200 degrees, pull apart, paint, reassemble and warm for 5 minutes and reseal, coat with silicone.

There should be a writeup with pics on 350zfrenzy.com soon, and as soon as I find someone who wants them in atlanta for their G coupe, a writeup on g35frenzy.com (my wife doesnt want hers done, at least not yet)

used black spray paint over self etching primer. after reclosing, sealed all the seams with silicone. It aint gonna let moisture in!

Re: Coupe Headlamp/Sidemarker conversion

I'd worry about it getting too hot inside the housing and that paint becoming sticky and running. Isn't this possible?

Re: Coupe Headlamp/Sidemarker conversion

self etching primer will stick to the chrome trim without having to scuff it up first. I got it at pepboys. Its a lacquer, so I also got matte black laquer (never mix laquer/enamel/acrylics).

Once the paint cures, it isn't gonna run or become sticky.

2003z, nice mod. I like the black much better than the body color in the pictures at clearcorners.com. I'm looking forward to reading the full write-ups.

I'd might be interested. I'd like to see how it looks next to the factory black.

Re: Coupe Headlamp/Sidemarker conversion

I just completed mine yesterday. DG 2003 coupe, I removed the orange blinker, installed a clear one, and blacked out the housing. I will have a full write up about it later today. I looks awesome.
