Sooner: Yes, but aquariums aren't made to sit in the sun, right? I'm worried about it melting in the sun.

Deftronix: I was thinking about cutting it further back into the black plastic that way when I glue it back together it won't show. I had previously noticed that the adhesive would be clearly visible as well.

Dang, I was hoping to avoid cutting it open with a dremel. Oh well, the end result should be worth it!

yeah...definitely have to cut it. jb weld runs when wet so make sure you let it sit for a little bit before applying.

Well I took the plunge... and did a small faceplant. I got them apart, but not without casualties. I ended up cutting about a 2 inch path through part of the lens Hopefully I can repair it to look semi decent again once it is all back together. It will never look completely right, but better than what it does now. I'll try and post a picture up this weekend sometime.

They have special silicone that is made to withstand high temperatures. They have them at the home depot. It comes in a small blue tube. it's what I use to seal up the clear corners I make. Your going to figure out a way to clamp the lens to the assembly while the glue is drying. Also, apply the silicon in various thin layers, rather than gooping a fat line in there, this way it dries faster and more thoroughly. Also, the plastic is very brittle, use caution. Maybe some glass cutting oil will help.
