They aren't protect from voltage/current spikes, so they get fried. Thats a main issue with LEDs, you have to have proper circuitry!

i use the vleds 5 refractor bulb in my clear corners and im on my 4th pair already..the side firing leds start strobing then burn out about 1 -2 months in..

but now i just blacked out my corners completely..looks great on a black car..besides those lights dont do anything anyway.

i have superbrightleds in my dome lights, reverse lights and license plate lights for a few months now with no problems

I bought leds (just leds, without resistors) from Superbrightleds and built my own circuits. I have had them for about a year now with no problem at all
