Just installed 3000K HID Yellow Fogs - PICS included

Here are a few pics of the 3000K HID fogs that I installed tonight. I am VERY happy with them. I do wish I had a projector retrofit, but oh well. These work very well and the glare is not bad like you might think and is pointed mostly toward the ground.

The low beams are 6000K Philips Ultinons

Loooks good, but you can see glare above the lowbeam cutoff which is bad for fog and oncoming traffic. At least they are 3000k so the glare isn't as bad. Are they D2R style rebased bulbs?

They appear to be rebased, but did not have the shield around the lense that the D2R's have, so I would guess it is a D2S by default.

Looking good! I was thinking of getting some myself but wasn't so sure if I should.

Yes this is an H1 conversion kit. It is Klight brand and I got it off of ebay. $99 and from China, but got here in 2 days. Shipped on 3.16 and arrived on 3.18. My room mates kit got here the next day.

36 months warranty, that's the best i've seen yet on a conversion kit...any difficulty in mounting the ballast?...what's your overall impression (part qualityto finished appearance) on a scale of 1-10?? i do alot of driving in the fog commuting across the lake, and think this would be a better solution than luminics h1

This will have worse performance than a coated h1 such as the luminics in actual fog conditions. This is because you can clearly see the glare the kit produces about the low beam cutoff line. This is okay in non fog conditions, but will lead to glare on the fog. A good fog beam pattern should have a sharp cutoff quite a bit below the low beam cutoff

None at all. I mounted it to the bottom of the other ballast underneath the housing. So far I am impressed with it I have only had it installed for a few days. There is a little glare like Redlude mentioned, but not much and not much more than the stock H1's put out with it being a reflector housing instead of a projector. 3000K is also a dimmer light so it will help out as well if it is glaring (it is not that bright).

Here are some distance night pics.

Now what are the advantages of this over the 3000K Luminics?
I see more disadvantages from my prospective...

Probably no advantages other than the look. Same with a 6000K filament bulb and a 6000K Ultinon HID. Which looks better?

I just figured the output would be far superior going to a xenon bulb from a halogen bulb...color wise i really like the luminics, but i don't see them putting out as much light as a HID; however, i'd hate to spend that kind of $$$ to have a counterproductive effect due to the glare...to the original poster, is there any adjustment/aim that might lower the cutoff

All that yellow light above the white lowbeam cutoff is glare, and extends a good 3-4 feet above the cutoff. This isn't the case with the stock setup, and in a real fog situation will lead to what IMO is alot of glare and poor if not dangerous performance. I'm sure the light output is great when there isn't any fog, and if thats what you are after and don't mind blinding other drivers, then it will give you better lighting. For better perfomance for what the lights are actually meant for, fog, its an poor application. A yellow coated h1 bulb is a much better option for use in actual fog, or a projector retrofit with the cutoff setup below the stock lowbeam cutoff.

Yeah, you're blinding the sh*t out of oncoming drivers. One way you can easily tell that the glare is bad.....Look at upcoming reflective highway signs or stop signs at night time....You will see they reflect yellow when youre getting close to them. Fog lights are supposed to be aimed at the floor, and with the glare you have, you are blinding people bad.
