10k and 3k installed (03-05), but i think i may have a problem (pics)

Today I was getting lights installed for the 'fog light' part on the 03-05 headlights. However the 'silver cap' or the thing that holds the light, they took off saying the bulbs wont fit with that on it.
(The light itself, (bottom one) the bottom half had a sort of metal thing, so dead on it looks like 'half a circle' which kinda bothers me.. you can tell in a few of the pictures...)
I told him I wanted the thing on it, because I haven't seen anyone's car on the forum with that. The lights still work, however I dont know if the 'cap' is there for glare protection, or if it increases the distance, or if its just for looks. If anyone knows what those things are for .. it would be appreciated.
Thanks, if pics are needed i can show

glare seems bad (first pic) but I havent drove in night yet, I think i'll do that soon.. gawd

I really like the blue color, and honestly it's not like I or any of you live in an area where its DARK. There are things called 'street lights' that keep the area lit to a degree, and if it ever gets TOO BAD, then that is what the 3k fogs (hid), that should light up the road better (in theory) than ur fancy '06 projectors'

It's great that you like the blue color, but your setup will most definitely not light up the road better than 06 projectors. What you will have is a couple of little blue spots and yellow spots right in front of your car. If you like your setup..that's great, but don't try to convince everyone else that it is superior in lighting performance to OEM.

ummm i didnt know that the two cancel out.. i thought they would go 'on-top' of one another and lighting density would be doubled?

depends on what you want i guess. i can see that you have a blue car? carribean blue? looks like u were going for the matching. but lighting intensity will only double for a small space. after that it goes nowhere. what brand lights are these?

I was referring to street lights, like lamps on the road.. the lights, on the street. (the poles).. public lighting? I wasn't calling my light 'street lights';

The "silver cap" you were referring to in your original post is part of the reflector portion of your headlight. Why anyone couldn't fit the right size bulb in there without taking off the cap is beyond me.....

You are probably going to loose alot of light output since it no longer reflects the light back on to the mirror portion of the housing. And, it probably will be blinding to on comming traffic as well.

If I were you, and this is only a suggestion, I would find some way to re-install the deflector, and buy some H4 bulbs that will fit correctly...

If your happy with the way it is.....go for it....its your ride/ticket anyway.

Yeah I drove the other night (at the time I just got it and had not driven it at night) and its pretty dim, does hurt my eyes. I will probably get 6's soon. The only thing that is saving me is putting the 3ks on.. but the yellow and blue makes the light kinda green? oh well... 'you all told me so'
