Anyone tried LED's in their turn signals?

for $10.
If I were to get the VLED Amber SMT18 LED bulbs for the turn signals in 06 projectors, what would I get for 04 tail lights?
I'm guessing I'd get clear bulbs since the tail light housing is red, but would they be 7440 or 7443 or doesn't it matter? Not familiar with all this stuff. :/

i put in a pair of 24 leds 7443 in my front blinkers a while back and they blew the fuse.
any reason why?
are they using too many amps.
im about to clear the orange piece and def wanna put in some white leds.

So is there a definitive resistor load we should be getting? Also where do you mount the resistor? I'm worried it will get hot and melt plastic or start a fire in my trunk
I've had the rear LED turn signals for awhile and haven't got around to installing them.

I have seen a few places who sell the large ceramic resistors. I'm not sure on the actual resistance but they should not get hot enough to damage anything. It's not like they are on all the time.
The ones I used on my sequential project were 10 Ohm I believe. They do get hot if the blinker is on long enough, but not enough to do serious damage. Either way, I just mounted them to the frame using super glue for mine. They are basically heatsinked already.
