6000K HID fogs brighter than my 4200K OEM bulbs

Before some of you flame on about HIDs in the fogs (you know who you are )I wanted to assure you that I checked the alignment, and cut off properly, I also had some volunteers drive towards my car and followed others and all reported no more glare than with the lights off.

So keeping that in mind, the 6000K HID fogs that I have seem to be much brighter than the OEM phillips bulbs in the 07 projector housing. The color is very similar to the output of Mercedes CL class (slightly purpleish/blue mostly white). Could the ballast be a factor in the overall light output? I've heard that the Phillips 6000K Ultinons have lower output 2800 Lumens vs 3100 Lumens (OEM Bulb). Unfortunately the bulbs that were included in my set were rebased D2Rs and do not have a brand name on them. Any ideas??

They are appearing "brighter" because they don't have a distinct cutoff and shoot light up above the lowbeam cutoff. Post a cutoff pic from 25 ft away with them on and off and I'll show you what I mean. Also define "brighter"

That slight purple/blue is from the projector, not the bulb.

But its being emitted from my fogs which are the stock reflector housing on the 07 couple lights. The light from the 07 projectors is a yellowish white color. I understand the projector lens plays a huge factor in color (I'm a fan of IvoryGT's posts) but I was a little surprised to see the output of these 6000K generic HID conversion kit.

I'll take the pics tonight with a real camera not a cell phone. When I say brighter, it just seems as if the road has a higher contrast and lights up better. Could be my eyes are screwy. I had a pair of generic 6000K D2Rs in my old 03 headlights and they were garbage and the output sucked which is why I ended up pulling them out and putting them on the shelf and chalking it up to a learning experience, but where I live in CA, even though I am a few minutes from the ocean, fog is rarely around, how ever I do drive down a lot of streets with no street lights at night and the new fog set up has helped out a lot.

okay, now define "output", the 06 fogs have a relatively poor lighting pattern because they are fogs, I don't know how the "output" could be that great/useable. Without pics your words don't really mean anything

Edit: so are you saying that the road is better lit with the projectors and fogs on compared to just the projectors on? If thats what you are saying, obviously its brighter, now try taking your bulbs out of your projectors and driving around with just your foglights on and seeing if its better than the projectors, my guess is not even close

jebus, I can't really describe this proper. Maybe intensity or perceived light? I know but the sun won't be down for a couple more hours. So they'll be put up tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.
