03 sedan headlight IGNITOR-retrofit? :)
So i was about to pick my car up from the shop today after having some bodywork and headlight changed aftera collision and i get a call from my mechanic. He told me that my passenger side headlight was damaged. The ignitor(ballast im guessing) that turns my HID's on is burnt. I already had previous problems with my headlights.
I would turn them on, then i turn them off, then turn them on agian, and it won't go on. I basically can't flick my lights anymore. I would have to wait a while before i would be able to turn them on agian. Im not sure if my after-market hid bulbs caused the problem or not, but he informed me that these were the parts i needed to fix the problem.
The headlight housing comprised of two parts, 26025al520 + 26025ac020
im not sure how these parts work, but i think 26010ac026 is the the combonation of both. (part list on the bottom from Riverside Infiniti)
heres some ways i figured i could go about in fixing my situation.
1.What i want to know is if its possible to just purchase a new ignitor for the headlights. My other headlight that got swapped out is fine, but its on the drivers side so i was wondering if i could take apart the housing (bake it in an oven) and swap it to save some money. Also gives me a chance to paint my housing =)
2.Project retrofit and forget the whole thing! but keep in mind (im not exactly the best mechanic)
3. Just let the shop deal with it and fork over 500-600 bucks for a whole new assembly...

does anyone know how to remove these two screws from inside the headlight housing.
the two circled screws, im having trouble removing. Its angled at a point where my screwdriver can't get any grip.
essentially, what i want to remove is
so i can get to the control and ignitor.
one of my HID Ignitors burned and i have a extra headlight laying around, but its on the wrong side, so i wanted to swap the ignitor + controller to the other side.
If things go well, i might consider just getting a whole new McCulloch HID Conversion Kit and swapping out both sides to make sure it works.
