Colormod, mine look something like this(borrowed from ivorygt)

for about the cost of the bulbs, you can get true color and flicker that 6000k bulbs can never touch

The color mod trick is very nice. They are the closest to the BMW look as you can get. Unfortunately I don't know how to do it and the price to do it made it out of the question.

IvoryGT has a DIY, and you can purchase some clear lenses from him for less than the price of the aftermarket bulbs, so cost isn't the limiting factor. Colormodded g35 projectors are WAY better than e46 BMW projectors in terms of color and performance, those things are some of the worse projectors out there

Let me chime in a bit:

Those pics above of the colormod are my lights while Ivory was working on them. I LOVE the flicker and it looks great but at the end of the day, the color of the bulbs is still "yellowish" if you are using stock bulbs. I don't want you guys out there to think that the colormod will make your lights blue. The blue/purple is seen from on-coming traffic. Sometimes you see it on the car in front of you.

If you are looking for the light to be blue/purple, get bulbs. Sure they lose output, but they do the job. If you want to retain good visibility and want just a bit of color, do the colormod.

I just dont want you guys seeing post like some above and assuming the colormod will make your lights blue/purple.

^^^^ +1. Everyone has their preference. If you want the output to have color, get bulbs. If you want stock output with a purplish blue cutoff, do the color mod from IvoryGT if you are capably inclined or send to him.

Yea, I guess people have their different opinions, but I don't see why anyone would want the light they see out of the projectors to be blue/purple. That puts more strain on your eyes and plus its significantly dimmer than stock. I guess to me, having color only at the cutoff is the "right way", and adding bulbs is imo a poor substitute. All OEM projector equipped cars use a ~4100k bulb, because it gives you the best performance

Has anyone actually installed these Mtec D2C's into a 2005 houseing? I have read that they can fit in both D2R and D2S but because of the way they are made, if they are put into a reflective houseing there will be tons of glare into the oncomers eyes. It seems that everyone that has purchased these bulbs have only put them into the projectors.
