Because the fog light system is multiplexed to the BCM you can't easily rewire the system AND have control over the fogs. You can set it up so that whenever your parking lights are on the fogs are on, but to seperate the fog light switch from the headlight switch you need the KPtechnologies module.

I know I am bumping an oldie here, but I figured it be better than starting my own after searching.

I am trying to figure this out, are you saying that a simple power to power connection from the fog to parking light would not allow the fog light to be turned ON or OFF when the parking lights are in use and the headlights are not in operation? Or are you saying that if you make this simple connection, you fogs will be ON everytime your parking lights are on?

Because I figured I'd just make the simple power-to-power connection between the fogs and the parking lights as well so that I could operate the Fogs independantly of my headlights, but with my parking lights. I am not looking to drive with Fogs and nothing else because it would seem in my opinion if you need fogs, you at least need constant rear lights as well. In the past with other cars, I liked being able to use my fogs and parking on those transitioning mornings, it gave me the light I needed, made me visible and felt like I was "saving" my HID bulbs.

You can't just hook the parking light output to the fog lights - you'll most likely burn something up or blow a fuse (as the parking light circuit isn't designed to drive two fog lights).

At a bare minimum you will need a relay triggered from your parking lights to provide fused power from the battery to the fog light output at the IPDM. With this setup whenever the parking lights are on the fogs will be on. You will not be able to ever turn the fogs off if the parking lights are on.

I am in the same situation, however im just hooking up 1 fog light to my parking light VIA hardwire and it only needs to work once to pass inspection and then im taking the fog light off.....think it will work just once without burning or blowing a fuse? I hate Euro car inspections. Let me know what you think

I wouldn't try it. A relay is ~$10 - why risk damaging a $500 IPDM or BCM?

i would imagine u could jus get a relay and a swtich and wire it to the fogs and disconnect the main wires that is connected to the foglights from factory. so ud have ur own switch to turn the fogs on and off
