What is the OE color temperature for 03 G35?

I had a bulb go out on me the other night and was just wondering what the stock color temp is. The reason I ask is that I went to the dealer and they wanted $230 for one bulb! I didnt think to ask while I was there. I'm looking to go aftermarket so I need the color temp so I can run the price diff. on a single bulb.

Also, does anybody know the temp of the bulbs that are kinda purple? If the price is alright, I may go with a new set. Any D2r should be plug and play right? I will go with a name brand (philips, ge, etc...)

One last question, will 04-06 headlight housings be a direct fit? I gotta leak in mine although I will probably get it sealed. Thanks for all the help.

With most cheap quality bulbs, 6000k is light blue, 8000k is blue, and 10000k is purple. You might be able to find cheaper quality bulbs with 8000k looking purple. Technically, over 12000k should be purple...

But just a few things you should know before you go buying new bulbs: Stock is usually 4100-4300k. Truly good quality bulbs like Philips are never over 6000k, maybe 6500k. The higher the kelvins (color temperature), the lower the lumens (brightness). In other words, the hotter the bulb, the less it'll illuminate. And the more blue and/or purple in the light, the more it tires you out due to glare - but that has nothing to do with how well the bulb itself works...

Here's some more info (a very good read):

This depends on whether you have a coupe or a sedan. For the sedans, the shape of the headlight housings are completely different, and the 03-04 will not fit an 05-06.

Thanks for the info. It was really helpful. I forgot to mention I have a coupe. WIll 06 coupe headlights be a direct fit? I found a few sets for sale w/bulbs for less than I'd pay for one bulb at the dealer.
