Replacing Ballast and Bulbs....

quick question..
I know a lot of you have replaced stock bulbs with 6K philips bulbs.. but if I happend to replace the ballast& bulbs to after market product(6K that is) would that have the same output as replacing just the bulbs????
the reason i'm asking is b/c ..I have a friend who can get Tech1HID KIT (Ballast&Bulbs) for about 200 bucks..
I really don't like our HID's..it looks yellow at times.. :/ and compare to other cars HID our car is not BRIGHT at all!!! please help me out so i don't make any dumb choice!! thanks!

edit.. more pics to come..

changing to different kelvin won't make it brighter.

try getting new 4300k philips if you want brightness

you COULD change the ballast if you wanted to, but you would have a hard time finding an aftermarket ballast that would fit into the housing and seal properly. Alternatively you could leave the stock ballast and run the wire of the aftermarket ballast into the housing, but that would most likely required splicing of the aftermarket wires/drilling/and proper sealing of the housing (some kind of silicone caulking).

you would have to find an aftermarket ballast that would fit in the location of the stock ballast. aftermarket ballast are usually waterproof, but you would still need to water proof the headlight housing.

Scroll down in this thread and you will see what the stock ballast looks like and where it goes.

why would you spend $200 to get new ballasts and bulbs when all you need are new bulbs which can be had for less than $200

No aftermarket ballasts stand up to the same abuse as OEM. Also the only thing you can possibly do to increase brightness sort of new Philips bulbs, would be getting Aftermarket 50watt ballasts and Philips 50watt bulbs.

no. turn counter-clockwise top cover behind the low beam. turn counter-clockwise the silver bulb connector. pinch together the retaining clip holding the bulb and pull upwards. carefully remove the bulb
