well would a 6000k bulb from someone other than philips be a better choice for light output and a better color

Not likely. If you must have 6000K, get the Philips. Otherwise stick with stock. I wouldn't trust most of the other brands out there.

The problem is that there isn't a standard in color temperature, so other 6000k bulbs may be whiter or bluer than the 6000k ultinons. I've seen pics of quite a few kits where their "6000k" bulbs don't look any higher than "5000k", and are possibly brighter than the philips ultinon 6000k, but you'll never know because they never test them for output, and the quality and lifetime of most of those aftermarket bulbs is suspect.

i am going to try and install some 5000k Philips D2S bulbs from the BMW AUDI etc on my new 06 headlights....they tend to look alot more purple on the output....i guess we will see. I will let you know how they turn out. I had the 6000k D2R bulbs on my 04 set and i liked them alot but always wanted the more purple look like the BMW's...so im going to try this out..my 6000k bulbs leaned more towards the bluer side than purple. So i was thinking in between 4100k-6000k may turn out pretty good.

If you are looking for the "purple" look of BMWs and Audis, don't waste your money on bulbs. That purple and blue is caused by the flickering effect. What you are seeing on those cars is the colorful cutoff lines of those projectors. The actual light under the cutoff is just white, since they use 4300K OEM bulbs. You are better off spending some time/money investing in modding your projectors. This will get you the result you are looking for. Higher K bulbs will just get you a solid state color that is bluer or more purple.

Clear corners:

That looks sick. Did they change the lens on the projector or do the washer mod to the base of the projector?

BMW/Audi don't use 5000k D2s bulbs, I can almost guarantee you those bulbs are 85122+ bulbs, which are often mistakenly quoted as "5000k" when they are actually 4200k colorshift resistant bulbs. They are the same bulb that comes stock on the 06 projectors. BMW's and Audis get their color from the color in the cutoff, and not from the bulb. If you look at their projectors up close under the cutoff it will be just as "yellowish/white" as our stock projectors

Nope, all that work and how much they charge, and they don't even colormod the projectors.

I doubt your H4 bulbs are "brighter", and you do realize the 06 projector headlights use H1 bulbs right?

If they are still working on your lights right now, why don't you see if they can mod the projector for you? Would be totally worth it, even if they charged you a little more.

Where are you getting the mod done? Can I ship them a set of 04 sedan lights and have them mod them?
