Re: Lights!

If I understand what your saying I don't think it would work..

The HID bulbs for the cars are low beam bulbs...and are true HID....

the bulbs which we want to replace are dual duty fog/high beam....
these bulbs are not true HID, which I believe require ballast etc.....
so basically we are trying to mimick the HID quality with a convential bulb....
there are HID conversion kits out there but I think they are way out of the price range most would want to spend for the upgrade....
I use my fogs all the time when I drive at night....I feel the factory fog/high bulb just isn't adequate lighting....I want them to be brighter but not real blue looking...Jersey police definitely will hassle you....so theres the dilema...2old4this

From: on some Prius forum somewhere. Also getting 60mpg.
Re: Lights!

the other thing that I noticed is that the small reflector housing inside the lamp assembly is farther away from the bulb base for the regular headlights vs. the ones for the fogs (found this out the hard way when I accidentally took out the screw behind the fog lamps instead of just compressing the wire piece to remove the bulb; took about 10 minutes and a magnet to get the hanger away from the front of the lamp housing)

Re: Lights!

Can anyone post a link for the foglight? Where to buy? I can not go with the real "blue" look either. Just a hyper-white look.

These are the best option to go with. Ive gone through 3 sets of PIAA's in almost one and a half years. Dont waste your money on the PIAA's. These MTEC's are PURE white, better than the Sylvania Superstars by far and 1/2 the Price of PIAA's.

Re: Lights!

I have spent 800 bucks just on bulbs, kind of cheated feel. I often see xtreme white, superwhite, super xtreme white and so on but they are still yellow that can not be matched with xenon. The true white light is around 5000k. 6000K is white/bule,7000k is white/purple,8000k is blue/blue,10000k is true purple.the regular bulbs are less bright a bit than HID. Right now, my car is running with 7000K XENON I ordered from Finland and 7500K H4 with a light booster. The brightness is awesome.
