Question About H4 Bulbs...
Question About H4 Bulbs...
I had my PIAA h4 bulbs installed at Pep Boys over the holidays (I had neither the tools, lighting, or small hands to do so myself as I tried twice) and whenever I pull up behind a clean car (one that I can see the relfection of my G in...oh you guys know what I'm talking about ) I notice that my right fog bulb seems very bright on the top side, and the left side just alluminated (which it should look like as it's acting as the 'fog' light, right ?). Anywho...I park my car in a parking garage and this morning while pulling out, and my xenons had just come on so they were very blue, and I accidentally hit my brights. I could see on the wall in front of me that my left "bright" was aimed higher on the wall (as it should be) and my right one was aimed below the right xenon. My question is...can they be installed "upside down"...?

Re: Question About H4 Bulbs...
I just pulled my G into the warehouse here at work and showed a guy a work with what I thought was going on...is this just the way that Infiniti made these to aim...? Does anyone stock bulbs do this...? It's very obvious to me now that when turning the brights on, the left side beam "moves up" and the right side beam "moves down." If this were the way Infiniti intended to make them due to oncoming traffic, wouldn't it be the other way around...? Meaning left side down and right side up...? I'm confused. If anyone can verify that their stock bulbs that haven't been tampered with do this same thing than I'll just shut up

Re: Question About H4 Bulbs...
No, that is not normal. Check this thread for some shots of how the pattern should look on both sides (it should be the same).
It's possible they didn't seat the bulb correctly, causing it to angle slightly to one side. Since it's a reflector, the source of the light won't be centered in the parabola, causing a slight shift of the beam.

Re: Question About H4 Bulbs...
It is not possible to install them upside down, BUT if they are not seated correctly they will be uneven as you describe.
The install is very simple with simple tools. You can take off the wheel to get better access to the light housing if you need to although it is not absolutely necessary. Email me if you want directions. skeletoncru@sbcglobal.net

you guys realize that I'm talking about the way they project on a wall, and not what they look like when I look at them straight on, right...?

BTW how much did you pay those idiots at Pep Boys to install your bulbs?

Re: Question About H4 Bulbs...
OK...before I go back and blame them for the install job...I want to make sure you all know what I'm talking about...this pic I got from another thread about lighting...I assume it's of the driver's side ligthts...because this is what my driver's side lights look like (ie...the "horizontal" brightest part of the relection on the wall). Both the HID and the Fog (new and old) have a bright horizontal light that projects on a surface from close. My driver's side looks exactly like this. On my passenger side, the HID has a verticle line to it just like the driver's side, but the Fog is just a blurred circle of light that even runs into the projection of the HID. Is this normal...? Did Infiniti aim the passenger Fog bulb this way...? Or do I need to go back and tell them to fix it...? I can't notice anything visibly wrong from the oustide looking in and it doesn't appear to be loose...just want to get to the bottom of this because it's annoying me...
Thanx.

Re: Question About H4 Bulbs...
The light pattern of both sides should be about the same. A fog beam pattern is only effective if it has a sharp horizontal cut-off, so what you are describing seems to be a defect of some kind. I would see the dealer about this.
