this isnt pertaining to a car but I have a white led illuminated base. if i wanted to change the color of the led without removing each led and soldering a new one can I put clear colored sheets on top of it or will it not work?

 

Led lights are pretty cheap, why wouldn't you just buy different ones instead of the hassle? I am not to sure about the color "sheets" over them. leds bulbs....or any bulbs for that matter tend to get real hot on the surface when lit for periods of time. I imagine it would be a matter of time til the bulbs melt through whatever you cover it with.
