Natural Sunlight is rated at 5400. (Noon, summer)

Here's a scale to give you an idea of where things lay on apparent color.

This one is rather interesting.

madler:
Regarding your observation about the lights bouncing up and down, mine do the same thing. I believe this is normal with our lights...

I believe it has to do with the fact that the edge of the beam of a xenon is very sharp.. quick transition from lighted area to dark, while halogens have more of a gradual fade to dark at the edge. So they all bounce with the car's suspension, you just notice it more with xenons.

hey guys...just wanna inform anyone who's trying to get their g35 xenons to look just as good or better than bmw, mercedes xenons. go to www.hid4less.com. you can upgrade your xenons - which are stage 1 - to stage 2. these are the ones with 8000K...with a purple hue and the highest quality. theyll look amazing. and upgrading to stage 2 once you have stage 1 is about 200 to 300 bucks. good buy i think. after that...for about 40 or 60 bucks...you can change your fog lights, high beams, or the "park lights" to PIAA hyperwhites. then...my g35 brothers/sisters...you shall have a sexy skyline on the road. ive seen pictures of g35 sedans with these mods...they look absolutely stealthy and beautiful.

My stock xenons light up the road at night. During the day I leave them off. I don't really care what they look like standing outside the car, I only care what they make the area in front of the car look like when I'm in it. They make it look visible. Works for me.

Re: HID/Xenon Headlights.. Are they??

Projectors produce the sharpest cutoff.

Free form reflectors also produce an excellent cut-off, but not as sharp as projectors. The design of the reflectors will dictate the sharpness of the cut-off, HID or not. The bounciness, you're correct because you notice it better than regular halogens.

increasing the color temperature doesn't always mean it's brighter. European OEM HID systems run around 5400k. To achieve the 8000k look, it's either reducing the voltage or adding a tint to the glass, both which reduce its output.

Out in the cul-de-sac where I live is the huge pile of snow/ice left by the graters recently. Just for fun, I thought I'd see how my lights look from the garage. Here's a pic of my stock Xenon low beams that were adjusted to just below max spec (Infiniti setting suggestion).

They get to save on the power bill. It's also great for neighbourhood parties!

"come out with your hands up". did you see them trying to look out the window?

The stock HID's on the g35 are great. It's just the rest of the lights on the front of the car don't match. I feel embarrased to turn on the lights because of about 4 different colors of lights. I have the clear corners too, looks horrible on.

I ordered the extreme wedge bulbs for the clear markers and the slit along the side of the housing so hopefully that'll look a bit better. For the fog lights I'm getting another HID kit. My friend is ordering more to sell at his shop. If anyones interested let me know so I can tell him how many to order. They're going to go for about $350.
