Regarding 2006 coupe headlight

I am wondering what is the socket for the 2006 G35 coupes? I would like to purchase 6000k/8000k HID Headlights but I am in a dilemma of which one would fit. I have seen many state that it is a D2S socket but others state that it is D2R. My friend with the '07 G Sedan recently switched to 6000k HID's for ~$170. When i asked, they quoted me ~$280. Is that right? They said something about me having to convert/change my ballasts or something to fit properly. Can I just stick in a 6000k/8000k HID without any conversions? Sorry for my questions. Any help much appreciated

D2R are for the older housings.
D2S are for the new projector hosings.

ya there is no need to get ballast when the ones you have work already.

no need to change the ballast, the OEM ballast will handle 6k and 8k.
