removing rear window brake light
Has anyone tried removing their rear window brake light before? The one that sits between the two rear speakers.
I have a spoiler with brake lights built in, the 06 OEM spoiler and really want to get rid of the window one.
Getting my back window retinted so it's a perfect time to remove it.

i looked into it, and it looks like a lot of work just to remove a lamp. Pretty much most of the rear interior panels and seats need to be removed and im assuming you have a non-brake light rear deck panel as removing your will leave a hole of some sort, if not you'll need to source.

If yours is black and you want the peice that doesnt have it lets trade cause I need the brake light sicne I have my CF trunk on and eliminated the wing. PM me if interested
shouldn't be too hard, when i got my windows tinted the guy didn't have to make a cut out where my third brake light is. you can't even tell that i have a third brake light until i hit the brakes.
It's purty easy removing the high mount lamp. You'll have to remove the trunk lining which is held in place by a couple of snaps. Once you've done so, you'll literally see what needs to be push, unhooked, etc to remove the lamp.

why is everyone making it sound so difficult?
fold down the rear seats, push forward and up right in the middle of the 3rd brake light. it should lift right up. unhook the harness and off comes the brake light. takes less than 10 seconds.

you'll need to replace your rear deck cover. It's a pretty big hole under the light cover. I don't know how difficult it will be to get the new rear deck in. If you do it by the book, you need to remove the rear seats and inner quarter panels.

if the OP is really ****, then yes he will need a new rear deck. however, seeing he's getting 18% tints, it will be hard to see anything inside, especially the hole where the 3rd brake light used to be. and from the inside, the rear seats are too high up for one to simply glance back and see the hole.
i left mine open, but stuffed some gray/black foam padding in to cover it. but you cant see it at all from the outside.

Well it was the suggestion of the window tint guy to just disconnect the bulbs and that 18% tints would be dark enough the hide the housing from the outside.
the tint, he said, wouldnt be a problem to go in between the housing and the glass.
