My 04 headlights cracked the same way and my local dealer replaced them under warranty. I know of others that had theirs replaced for the same reason.

I am curious what year all the cracks are on. Most of the ones I have seen post are 03-04. I hope they fixed the issue in 05 since I too am not willing to give up the clearance strip but I have no cracks so far......Knock on wood.

theshawn....

My 04 lights did the exact same thing. I took it in for service and brought it to the attention of my service writer. He had them replaced under warranty, but they said the reason they cracked was due to my aftermarket Fog/High bulbs.
They tried to say the extra heat generated by the aftermarket bulbs was the culprit.

I know for a fact many others had the same problem with out aftermarket bulbs. They wouldn't put back in the bulbs, or my Piaa 168's in the clearance strip.

They kept my bulbs to submit for warranty, and then they gave them back to me a few weeks later.

So, I got new headlight housings, new fog/high bulbs, and new clearance strip bulbs all under the warranty.

I would fight this if I were you.....they should still make good on the defect.

So, I'm bringing this back from the dead. I just bought some 04 headlights for a project, I looked at them when I was picking them up and didn't notice a thing. After I got them home I see that both headlights have the exact same crack that the OP's had. I want to attempt to fix them. I found some high temperature epoxy. I hope that with the epoxy combined with painting them, the cracks will not be noticeable. However, I hoped someone could tell me what kinda of plastic these are made out of, since the epoxy I plan on getting does not work on all plastics. Any advice would be a great help. Thanks.

I think that they are made out of ABS plastic, very brittle.

Crap, both of mine are cracked too. Causing moisture to get in the headlights. I hope the dealership won't be vaginas about it.
