HID Fogs...Questions

So my 05 G35c has the 06 headlight conversion, but I want to put 3000k HID in the fog reflector....I've seen it done in one thread here but can't find it now (I can't stand the search function on this site for some reason, I never find what I'm looking for). So my questions are as follows

-My fogs are always ON at night, but the foglight switch just turns them from low to high output....if I put 3000k HID fogs in there, I'd want them just ON or OFF, how would I go about this?? If there's already a thread, please link!

-What Size HID kit do I need to order for 06 fogs...

Thanks In Advance,
Matt

The Fogs on your headlights can only be ON or OFF. They are not dual filaments in the 06+ headlights. You are probably mistaking the City Lights as "low" and the Fogs as "high."

HID conversion kits are NOT recommended because they cause glare to oncoming traffic. A projector retrofit is the way to go.

I believe KP Technologies makes the independent fog light switch.

Well I know they are considered "city lights" but the fog light switch on the column turns them brighter -- is there two bulbs in there? At night, the "city lights" remain on, then I rotate the fog switch and the halogen light gets brighter acting as a "fog" i'm assuming. Either way, they're both coming out of the same reflector if I'm not mistaken. (I am new and haven't really even investigated this yet).

Are there two bulbs in the lower portion (reflector) of the 06 heads?

Yes... There is a 194 wedge bulb that is in the inner "corner" of the fog light reflector housing. Then, there is an actual fog light bulb in the center of the fog light housing. I believe this is an H1 bulb. The 194 bulb is the 'city light'. It is always on. The foglight comes on and off with the switch inside the vehicle. It is easy to see why one may be confused as the light from both bulbs are coming essentially from the same location.

When you get time, go outside and turn on your parking lights and look at your headlights from outside your car. Then, turn on the fogs and see the difference.

I have been running Luminics for quite a while and never had an issue. I would say just keep it simple. If you go with HID's, you will have to find a location for all the extra wiring and ballasts. You would also be creating more heat inside the headlight housings if I am not mistaken.
