16 m-smt LED will fit the map lights perfectly fine... they even work in the rear personal lights for sedans. I believe they'll fit the step lamps too (at least they seem to fit, although a bit snugly). I just ordered a pair of 20 m-smt to see if those fit the map lights too, that way I can move a pair of the 16 m-smt to the step lamps in the doors...

BTW, they do have a 9 smt festoon bulb in white, and the "single LED" that you have in the doors is technically 6 LED chips.

I haven't received the 20 smt bulbs yet, but I'll remember about this thread when I do get them.

There's a difference between 5 smt and 4 m-smt, there's an absolutely huge difference between 6 m-smt and 16 m-smt... m-smt are better than smt (which are already better than standard LEDs), so it's a bit hard to compare the two, but I'm going to have to say that the 16/20 m-smt are going to be better than the 9 LED or smt bulbs. I guess I'll find out for certain and get back to this thread with an answer for that too...

The 20 m-smt LED works fine in the map light, although there isn't a huge difference between that and the 16 m-smt... but then again, there is still a lot of light out. Fitment is really tight, as the board fits perfectly between the two connectors without any room to move. It can still be turned and angled as you wish though.

The 16 m-smt works fine in the doors, although fitment is really snug to the point where I can't really get one side to fully clip in. But that bulb is not going anywhere once you've closed everything up...

I haven't received the 9 smt festoon bulb yet, so I'll get back to you guys about that later... although it seems that a 5 smt bulb is about the same as a 11 m-smt... the bulb covers the same surface area, but if you look at the bulb bare, the m-smt is a bit brighter. Behind a cover like the ambers on the sides, they look about the same. Sorry, I don't have a quality camera so I'll take some pics some other time.

I believe dofu just said he tried it up there and it was REALLY tight. But it fit. Hmmm, what is better in the maplight? That festoon or the m-smt 16?

yeah it will fit the maplight coz there is more space up there than the doors. also installing bulbs on the doors is a pain for the first time

The red LED in the left side of the door there....what is that? What fits there? That's something aftermarket...correct?

 

i think its just a reflection from the flash? coz my 06 doesnt have a bulb in there if it had then probably ill LED it up too
