2006 Sedan D2R?

is the 2006 Sedan HID bulb D2R? Everywhere i search it says they should be D2S, opened the hood today and the plastic by the headlight reads D2R, H4 (fogs)?

Unless I'm missing something, if you have the bi-xenon projectors then you should need the D2S. The G's without projectors that only have HID low beams use the D2R. The lamp replacement guide at www.sylvania.com says you need to D2S as well.

D2R should have been the correct size for you. You do not have projectors if you are stock on an 06 Sedan. D2S is the correct size for the 06 COUPE because they have projectors, but the sedan does not (hence D2R).

That's the part I was missing. Thanks for clearing that up.

cant believe all the sites tell you the '06 Sedan takes D2S, I can confirm they are Philips D2R bulbs, just changed them out for a pair of D2C's which fit just fine in both i believe.

D2C's are still kinda incorrect. They will fit, but create glare for other drivers. D2C is the exact same bulb as D2S, but the base fits D2R. The big difference between D2R and D2S (and D2C) bulbs is the D2R has a black ceramic coating at the top. D2S does not, and without projectors, D2S and D2C throw light where they shouldn't in reflectors.

+1, d2c bulbs were a horrible idea

well i got them from a guy on a mazda forum, therpmstore.com, the box said D2S but fit the D2R ballast so im figuring its D2C.

Cant believe the '06 Sedans didnt come with projectors. So far it looks sweet with the yellow Luminics but ive read about the glare issues and am considering coughing up the extra for D2R Ultinons, will they have the same problem?

i think these cheap HID's fried one of my ballasts. One side works fine, the wire that connects to the bulb holder had come out and i slid it back on, now the bulb flicks on/off for a milisecond when i turn the headlights on, but stays off?

Tried old bulbs with no luck, any suggestions? Ive already got pulled over once this week for driving with just my JDM Yellows.

Could it be a fuse somewhere?

Could be a bulb problem. Double check the connection at the back of the bulb. If the problem remains try one of your oem bulbs and if the problem is still there you will know it's the ballast.
