Did some more research.
Most guys have used these:

The newer smt's are brighter but not sure if it would be overkill.

Got a response back from Jake at v-leds. He says that the 5led is a very good universal bulb that works great.

He personally uses the 2w 4 leds high power msmt's that are bright enough to light the ground behind the vehicle.

The LED's are plenty strong for a plate. I used 4-LED 194's on each side and the plate is brighter than when it has the conventional bulbs.
For the plate, no real need to go super bright. Not a whole lot of area to ligth up. I don't think i would want my vantiy plate standing out that much if i do anything silly on the road
For the reverse lights, i went with the 5w SMT LED's from Vleds.
