hi guys, pretty much noob to headlight mod, specs..
anyway, im purchasing a 06 projector HL WITHOUT ballast and bulbs.. Currently I have 05 HL WITH stock bulbs, ballast..etc..
Once i get the 06 projectors, would i have to purchase new ballast AND bulb? or just bulb? I think the 05 ballasts can be used on 06 projectors..correct?
Now if I need new bulb for 06, which ones would I need? low, high etc....and how much would it cost on average?

You need the D2S bulbs for the projector and swap everything else over.

Ok, so now i know everything else can be transfered from my 05 headlight EXCEPT bulbs.
now.."bulbs" meaning low/high/turn..etc? or just low beam D2S bulb?
So my question is, how many of which bulbs do I have to purchase to make this 06 projector work? Do I just need to buy a pair of D2S (thinking phillips 6000K untinon) and im set? and can use all the other bulbs from my 05?
Sorry.. this is confusing to me..I don't even know how many bulbs there are in each headlight..shoot me..

It will break down, in detail, exactly which bulbs and types are used in each year headlight/car.

It gives the specific bulb type so you will know which type to look for when ordering.

There are 4 bulbs in both headlights.
03-05: Fog/hi | low | blinker | clearance strip light
06+: fog | hi/low | blinker | city light

will I be able to use 7443 instead of 7440 in 06 lights? (blinker)
How about H4 instead of H1 in 06 lights? (fog)

damn I know i can get a pair of D2S for about $200
but If the blinker and fogs are not interchangeable, I might as well be spending more than $300 for the bulbs.. or am i wrong? how much does stock 06 7440 and H1 usually go for?

 

i have d2r in my 06 headlights....works fine................should it not be working or whats the reason you have to upgrade to the d2s???

2005: Xenon Low, Halogen High
2006: Bi-xenon/low+high

If I have the 2005 ballast, how do the high beams work?

Does the ballast or the bulb dictate if you have bi-xenon?
