are 06-07 headlights plug n play on 04 coupes?

Was curious about the 06-07 coupe projector headlights. If I install them on my 04 coupe, can I use my existing ballasts, or do i need the actual ballasts from the 06-07?

Also do i have to do any extra hacking to make these lights work on my 04?

yes there direct plug and play..
if the 06-07 projectors didnt come with ballasts already
u just reuse your 04 ballasts..

the only think that you would have to do
is adjust the headlights, meaning you have to reaim them
so you dont blind oncoming traffic

search Relude97 Thread..

ohellaoem, thanks. I just wanted to make sure that my stock 04 ballasts will work with the new 06-07 coupe projectors.

It's basically a direct swap and no cutting wires with the ballasts? It just attaches on to the bottom of the light and then i can plug in the harness it seems.

I hope I don't have to remove my bumper or do a lot of work to install these headlights.

They will plug in, but you need to remove the bumper to get them in.

Im about to purchase some 06 projector headlights too but ive read somewhere that you would have to get new bulbs for the projector. anyone know anything about that?

When you buy projector you need to check whether bulbs or ballast are included.
If ballast is not included, it is ok because you can use old ballast from your current headlight.
However, if the bulbs are not included, then you need to buy them because both low and fog are different from older version.

However, I PMed you

The 06+ headlights use a D2S bulb and the 04 is a D2R. They are not interchangeable unfortunately. If the lamps you are buying don't come with the bulbs then you can pick them up separately for a decent price. The OEM bulbs are Phillips at around 4300K color temperature in case you were wondering. If you need to purchase the bulbs definitely don't go to a dealer!

Cool thanks. Another thing, don't the 06 light have a bi-xenon on top(projector) and fog lights on the bottom? If so how would that work with the wiring if the 04 set up has low beams on top and high beams on the bottom? Would it have that same funtion?

As long as you are just swapping them the wiring harnesses plug right up and everything works correctly. You are right though, both the low and high beams are on top and the fogs are on the bottom. The high beams come on by flipping a shield inside the housing (the "S" part of D2S) that just redirects the light path for more coverage. If you flip the high beams on and off with the car off then you can hear it happening. When you swap them you may run into a problem on the passenger side with the wiring not being long enough, at least I did. To get around this just slide the wiring harness plug off the post that it is on on the headlamp assembly and this should give you enough extra to plug in the wiring from the body. If that doesn't make sense right now then it probably will if you run into this issue. It will also be very helpful to have a buddy there as it's a little difficult to do everything by yourself. The worst part for me was unclipping the harness plug to get the old lights out. This is where a buddy comes in handy as well a a pick to help unclip it.

Awesome thanks a ton! One last thing lol I promise. I'm gonna buy these off a guy on craigslist, is there anything I should check for? He said the it's just the headlight with no bulbs or ballasts and he said one of the clips or tabs was broken and he showed me a pic. The metal partif re tab is still on there though so he said with a washer it should be good.
