LED Cupholders

Hey. If I am going to do some white led cupholders....what would be the best spot to spice them in? I'm thinking the Cig Lighter bulb wire? That way the cupholders would only be lighted when the parking or headlights are on?...I'm guessing this will work???

I kind of like the look. I had LED cup holders in my old car and so I was interested in possibly doing it to this car. Am I headed in the right direction with tapping into the ashtray light for power?

you dont think it would kind of be overkill with them in the cupholders? Could be kinda bright.... you got any pics of them on the old car?

Doesn't the ashtray light only turn on when the ashtray is open?

wow that looks pretty good! Looks like you used 2 led bulbs???? Also it appears that you changed the seat heater color to white as well? I was going to just go to radioshack and pick up a bulb and a wire to hook these up...any thoughts on installation?? Thanks!

lol you asked for it... haha

aright well heres what i did. first made a board and stuck leds in it.

then drilled corresponding holes in the cupholder.

then wired the board up and installed it on the cupholder. (dnt have a pic of it mounted.. oops)
it came out with a kinda cool effect though, or at least i think.

then wired it to the seatheater lights.

if your looking to do it easy, i would say look for like panel mount leds, drill a hole, and stick them in. shouldnt be to hard.

I like that idea

I have done some LED mods with clearance strips and side markers, I have purchased a lot of LEDs from http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini_tubes.htm and have had pretty good success.

I am actually going to try center console and cupholder led using some the leds from here. Hopefully it turns out as nice as what you have done here. I will post once done.

Just get some individual LEDs from http://oznium.com. The type of bulb depends on how bright you want it and where you are putting it. For the cupholder location you can use either a 3mm or a 5mm. If you want to place some of these under the dash you can get some of the super flux bulbs. They sell the prewired LEDs so install is alot easier. No board is needed. Drill a hole and glue in or use silicone.
