04' to 06' headlights

I just swapped out my 04' headlights with a pair i got from a 06' coupe. They came with the original ballast and harness and the only things I've changed were the HID bulbs I got for my 04' and the LED bulb for the city light. So pretty much it was just plug and play. Couple things I've noticed afterward.. The fog lights do not work.. And there is a slight clicking sound when I switch low/high beams. Any suggestion on what I should do to fix those problems? Thanks!

is there a bulb in the fog light ?It uses h4/9003 bulb. You didnt mention if it had a bulb.

Also now there a re bi-xenon hid bulbs that act as high and low beams all in one so you dont ned to use the bottom half of the headlight as high beam, you can use it only for fogs.

Yeah there were bulbs in the fog lights, the ones right below the HIDs. They didn't lite up when I tried to turne it on, unless both of them were already out. Or the 04's just don't have the right software to control those??

I think the HID bulbs that I had were D2R..but I'm not 100% sure. Does the bulbs have to be D2S for the 06 HLs?

you might want to check to check the wires to see if they are connected properly. Also buy a bulb from discount auto parts and check if its just burnt bulbs.yes u had D2R bulbs.

06-07 headlights use D2S but you can use the D2C they are direct replacement bulbs compatible.

Didn't read to see if it was answered but here is the answer to your clicking "problem".

It's actually not a problem at all! It's a cool part of technology... It is the sound that the solenoids are making when they pull down the cutoff shield in your projector, allowing all the light to escape and be in "hi-beam" mode.

If you want to see a video of it check my thread in my sig

Thanks for the replies guys! Well, the fogs are working now, which I just found out the next day after install. Right now I'm just concerning if I need to change the HID bulbs to D2S. The D2Rs are working on the 06 ballasts, however, would they cause any damage in the long run?

they definitely shouldnt, you may not be getting the best performance from your projectors though, d2r have shielding i believe to prevent glare. d2s dont and therefore should be brighter and will use your projectors how they were made to be. im pretty sure thats right but dont kill me if its not

i want some 06 projectors, too bad they are like 600 or w/e

^The projectors do use H1 in the fogs. Also, running D2R's in projectors would not be optimal.

How did the price go so high for the 06 headlights? Bought mine 3 months ago for $300 and all I see is $500 and over now.....best I can figure is that most of us bought recalled lights, and they are all sold out now, so the price went up.
