03 headlights to 06 headlights

I have a 03 g coupe and I am looking into changing my headlights over to the 06 projector headlights. I was wondering if the wiring and ballasts from the 03 work plug and play with the 06 and if there are any installation issues. Also if the side strip doesnt light up on the 06 headlights what happens to the power that is normally routed to the strip.

plug and play.

use 03 ballasts for 06+ projectors.

side strip power/replacement are the "city lights"

No issues at all. The power for the side strip powers the city light in the 06.

I spent some time researching this and yes they are plug-and-play. But I read that you need to get new bulbs. My stock HID bulbs won't work? And what about the fog lights?

I have '04 with stock HID reflectors. Can someone confirm for my setup?

i believe both bulbs are different..most of the time when u buy a set of 06"s the bulbs are sold with them since they cant be used on earlier models, usuually the ballast is whats not inc. 03-07 ballasts are interchangable

I ended up getting a set from IrockAG35- everything smooth, highly recommended. Just finished aiming them. Overall I'm very pleased with them. The car looks much newer with brand new headlights. I noticed that many 03-04 headlights fade out very quickly so it's a nice upgrade. Worth the $ in my opinion - they really are much brighter.

Install wasn't that bad either - just need to lower the bumper. Best to take off the front wheels for easy access. I changed mine along with the brake pads..
