Convert eBay 03/04 Headlights to OEM HID
Convert eBay 03/04 Headlights to OEM HID
Wanted to throw this useful information out there for you guys. For anyone that has messed up lenses or cracked housing on their 03/04 Sedan OEM xenon headlights... and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars getting OEM replacement headlights because the eBay headlights aren't HID.... here's a solution I found.
The only difference between the eBay headlights and factory xenon headlights is the actual reflector (aside from the plastic quality).
Here's what I did for a member of ours.
He purchased 03/04 eBay headlights, all he wanted to do is swap out his worn out lens with the eBay lenses. After taking his headlights off the car, I've discovered that they were either cracked or had missing/broken tabs.
After taking both (ebay and oem) headlights apart, I then discovered that the only difference was the reflector, and if the reflector was swapped, I could swap all the xenon parts and hardness off the OEM headlights into the eBay ones and use the existing holes to mount the ballast, and bulb igniter box.
I drilled a already premolded hole in the back of the eBay headlight to accommodate the oem igniter wire, switched out the reflectors, and used the oem bezel/housing painted matte black(because it fit better inside the ebay lense than the ebay bezel/housing) and swapped out the clear turn signal shroud from the ebay lights onto the oem bezel/housing.
Another thing I had to do was use the rubber o rings off the ebay harness plugs on the oem harness plugs because apparently the ebay headlight backing is thicker, so it required thinner o rings on all the bulb sockets to properly fit.
Here's the end result...

Ah yes, let's move this to a section where 99% of the sedan guys don't look into anyway... and on top of that, not leave a redirect in the original section it was posted in.
Stupid.
Stupid.
or maybe you should be banned for not posting in the right section .

He took the time to make a good write up. More then most members do, why would you want him banned or on a different forum sharing information?

. Thanks for the info. I've been looking at those headlights to replace my OEM scratched up ones.
