Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
The low beam is the HID while the high/fog is halogen. you can upgrade the high/fog to a white light such as silverstars or just turn them off.

Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
Are silverstars HID lights, or are they just halogens that match the HID's color? And where does one find them?

Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
silverstars are still halogens but i think xenon is added to the mix to help reach certain color temps. i think the silverstars are rated at around 4000K but still work at 55W. the sylvania silverstars have a blue tint to get that white color.
because they're halogen, they still use a filament that wear out a lot sooner than real HID's.. i think it's a good alternative though...

Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
The reason the fog light is a yellow light is because it does not make anysense to have a white light shining on white fog. All that will do is cause a big white blanket it front of you. When you shine a yellow light on a white fog cloud you can see much further.

Its like a NAV or sunroof the use of them is very minimal. Although they serve cosmetic purposes for some people.

Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
I agree that you don't want white light on a true fog, in fact most serious fog lights are yellow or amber in color.
I also like that the lights are different colors, I think its cool to see all three lights (HID, fog, and sidelight) lit up at night.

Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
here in San Fran, sometimes you drive in very dense fog on the highway at cold nights.... it's at these times that the fog lights can really be appreciated..... trust me, it makes a difference.....

Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
I agree with Bigel, I like the contrast of the yellow against the white Xenon. I originally had the Piaa Xtreme white to match the Xenon, but it looked boring to me. So I went with a 2nd install and went with the Piaa Ion Yellow H4. Looks like a 3rd install is coming because I am not pleased with the clearance bulb.

Re: Low Beam/High Beam/Fog
correct.
The other trick is, getting the HID wired to the high beams only, and rewire the fogs as separate
